Creation Prayer Trail
" I go to nature to be soothed and healed,
and to have my senses put in order. "
– John Burroughs
It is easy to get stuck inside our own heads and our individual lives. We get caught up in our goals and plans and almost forget that we live in a world that is always here, humming away in the background.
This trail is an invitation to step into a shift of awareness - into a relationship much larger than your own world view. You may have noticed that paying attention to your breath in meditation draws your attention inward and pulls your scattered chattering brain into a centered stillness. So also the sounds of the natural world invite us out of ourselves. Listening and noticing rain, or wind giving voice to trees, and listening to birds and bugs, invites us into our connection with all God's creatures. As we do so, we "go in," gathering our energy into our bodies, centering and grounding us into the present moment, experiencing the Oneness we are as God's Creation.
