THE WINTER OF THE SPIRIT

Has your life ever brought you into the places of deep darkness? Do you experience winter as a fallow
time? Winter—whether literal or figurative—can be a time to explore the ways in which our spirit
conspires with (that is, “breathes with”) the Spirit for new life and growth in us—even during the dark

WHO AM I NOW?

January 17 – Wednesday

Guest Presenter: Barbara Kane
“Change is constant. Growth is optional.” When circumstances change, our own identity may be put into question. Children leave the nest. Parents die. Jobs change. During these times, one may wonder, “Who Am I Now?” In this two-hour session, learn ways to adapt to change and recreate yourself. Suggested offering $10.00. Register by Tuesday, January 16.

WRITING YOUR SPIRITUAL AUTOBIOGRAPHY

January 18 – Thursday

For many, writing is a spiritual practice. And, when it comes to reflection on your past experiences and your future dreams, writing can be a spiritual practice that offers opportunities for integration and increased awareness. WHAT’S WRONG WITH BEING PERFECT?

While perfectionists may not know how to answer that question, they sure know the struggle of trying to be perfect. What a relief to know Jesus doesn’t expect us to “be perfect,” but to “be made perfect.” Let’s explore what that means and how we can become more free from the struggle of perfectionism. WRITERS GROUP

Writers of every level and genre are welcome to join this newly forming group. Bring your lunch and a copy of your writing for feedback (1- 4 pages). THE HIDDEN LIFE OF TREES

This initial look at how trees share food and communicate with each other is astonishing. How social trees are, how they pass electrical impulses through their roots, what they feel! These Northwoods’ trees surround us with their hidden lives and seeming miracles that we seldom reflect upon. Suggested offering $10.00. Register by Wednesday, January 24.

WORDS AND SPIRIT: POETRY WORKSHOP

January 31- Wednesday
9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Facilitator: Julia Walsh, FSPA
We’ll discuss samples of spiritual poetry, study a bit of technique, be challenged by a writing prompt and spend time writing. At the end of the session we’ll share our creations and give each other feedback. This workshop is appropriate for writers at all levels. Bring your lunch and poems you would like to share.
